ABSTRACT
Skin is one of the elements that allow the interaction of the individual with his environment; the presence of visible and potentially disfiguring diseases, such as acne, can be an element that alters the individual's quality of life and psychosocial balance; the use of isotretinoin, a common treatment for acne, has been linked to the presence of affective disorders and suicidal ideation, with contradictory results; some studies suggest that acne by itself may be an influencing factor; for this reason, we analyzed the current evidence about the relationship between acne and psychosocial disorders, including suicidal ideation, in patients with no previous or current history of treatment with isotretinoin.
