Moderate-severe atopic dermatitis of the adult: New treatments

ABSTRACT
Atopic dermatitis is a chronic, recurrent and inflammatory skin disease characterized by intense pruritus. It is
considered a disease influenced by genetic, environmental, immunological and non-immunological factors, which play
an important role in its etiopathogenesis. Often the treatment for atopic dermatitis in adults becomes frustrating for
both the patient and the doctor. The development of new topical and systemic agents for atopic dermatitis could provide
a more effective therapy for those patients with poor response to conventional treatments.
