ABSTRACT

Epithelioma cuniculatum, or plantar verrucous carcinoma, is an unusual type of epidermoid carcinoma, well differentiated, associated with human papillomavirus infection and risk factors like smoking and ionizing radiation. It presents a slow and progressive growth, locally destructive despite its limited metastatic capacity. Its treatment is usually complete and extensive resection with partial or total foot amputation.
We present the case of a 71-year-old male patient, with a history of significant smoking, presenting a plantar lesion compatible with epithelioma cuniculatum.
