ABSTRACT
HIV 1 and 2 (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a lentivirus in the family Retroviridae, which affects the T4 cells of the defense system, and causes Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). These drugs are grouped into six categories: nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (ITRAN), non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (ITRANN), reinforced protease inhibitors (IP/r), Integrase Inhibitors (Instis), Fusion Inhibitors (Fis), CCR5 Correctional Antagonists.Patients living with AIDS are exposed to opportunistic infections as a result of their immune deterioration and have unintended weight loss. It has been corroborated that the nutritional supplementation of short duration of up to (three months), allows weight gain in patients with HIV/AIDS (Human Immunodeficiency Virus/ Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome).
