ABSTRACT
Introduction: Graves disease accounts for 85 to 90% of all cases, during pregnancy poses difficulty for diagnosis by physiological changes, the hypothalamic pituitary thyroid is a different fetal development the maternal axis, so it is important to know your interactions to manage this company risk approach in each of the trimesters of pregnancy.
Objective: To provide a comprehensive picture of the effects of this disease on maternal and fetal health implications, provide a management protocol of prenatal care and monitoring to improve prognosis, and present the perinatal outcomes of a series of cases.
Material and methods: A literature review and management guidelines was conducted in hyperthyroidism. Moreover 12 records were collected in 2014 hyperthyroidism and pregnancy, and perinatal outcomes were analyzed.
Results: The perinatal outcomes in birth rates dropped from 12 patients with 66% newborn with intrauterine growth restriction, prematurity 41.6%, 41.6% preeclampsia developed, in four of these patients was associated with goiter.
Conclusions: In our experience we found that the most common complications associated with hyperthyroidism are preeclampsia, prematurity and intrauterine growth restriction, therefore we consider, in addition to the thyroid control focus attention on prenatal care and risk prediction to intervene promptly in these entities.
