ABSTRACT
Background: Currently, vascular damage due to syphilis is infrequent, becoming anecdotal in developed countries. Vascular syphilis is a rare tertiary manifestation, the most frequent is aortitis.Clinical case: A 90-year-old male patient with a pathological history of primary essential arterial hypertension, dementia of unclear cause, and two recent hospitalizations for urinary tract infection; he was admitted to the hospital due to a recurrent clinical picture of intermittent fever associated with general malaise.
Conclusion: This case illustrates the importance of syphilis as a differential diagnosis of aortic aneurysmal disorders and its silent and varied clinical manifestation.
