Safety of the patient in Internal medicine, from internist to undergraduate internal physicians

ABSTRACT

The patient safety is defined as the medical care that is provided by systems and processes that minimize the probability to commit errors and maximize to avoid them. The incidents that provoke harm to the patient as a result of medical care are called adverse events. In Mexico the Health Secretariat participates in The World Alliance for Patient Safety with eight essential actions. In the clinical practice of Internal Medicine it is necessary to promote the safety patient culture since the undergraduate medical program. The hospital activities in Internal Medicine can cause the emergence of adverse events and the approach of patient safety is needed to decrease healthcare-associated infections and medical procedures related incidents.
