ABSTRACT
Objective: to describe the instrument used to evaluate the course work in the Latin American School of Medicine during the period corresponding to the 2017-2018 academic year and to assess the results of its application.Materials and methods: the instrument was prepared considering the characteristics of the subject and the context of the Latin American School of Medicine, from the modification of other instruments used for the same purpose. The results were analyzed taking into account the grades obtained by the students.
Results: due to the high number of professors that participated in the evaluation process of the course work, it was essential to establish a criterion that guaranteed the homogeneity and fairness of the same. For this reason, the instrument was designed and applied with the indicators to be evaluated in the written report, the oral presentation by team and the individual defense of the work.
Conclusions: it is possible to design an instrument, which includes evaluation criteria at the group and individual level. It allows unifying these criteria to be applied by all teachers and courts participating in the process. The teaching results achieved in the final evaluation are satisfactory, both in terms of promotion and quality.
