ABSTRACT
Objective: to base the practice of popular dance “Casino” on the students of the Latin American School of Medicine through an artistic workshop of appreciation and creation from the university extension for the improvement of their quality of life and cultural formation.Methods: theoretical and empirical methods were used, as well as the observation that allowed to assess the real conditions presented by the students regarding the promotion of the Cuban Dancing Musical Culture in the school. Interviews with leaders and surveys were applied to students.
Results: they are appreciated through the participation of these students in different cultural activities, applying the creation, the physical exercise, the good maintenance of health, the appropriation of knowledge, art, Cuban culture and tradition.
Conclusions: the Casino dance workshop also allows acting in the social interrelation, the proportion of knowledge, and the development of skills and artistic abilities influencing the improvement and improvement of the quality of life of students, the formation of their personalities and the enrichment of their values.
