ABSTRACT
Objetive: to evaluate the effectiveness of the exercises for the process of understanding scientific information.Materials and methods: Methods of the theoretical level were used among those found. Analytical-synthetic, historical-logical, systemic-structural, modeling and empirical level such as documentary study, observation and testing.
Results: the entrance test showed that in the groups where the experiment was applied the students have a low level of skills in the understanding of the scientific information and the results of the exit test demonstrated the effectiveness of the applied exercise system because it was produced a qualitative leap in terms of mastering the skills for scientific understanding.
Conclusions: the student of the preparatory course presents difficulties in the understanding of the scientific text and the application of the exercise system contributed to the acquisition of skills in the work with this textual typology.
