ABSTRACT
Objective: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the minimally invasive single flap surgical technique vs conventional surgical technique.
Materials and Methods: 14 surgeries were performed, 7 using the minimal invasion simple flap technique and 7 with the conventional technique in 14 defects. The patients were diagnosed with localized moderate chronic periodontitis. The periodontal defects were measured and subjected to surgical procedures with the 2 mentioned techniques, later revaluation was performed at 7, 21 and 60 days.
Results: The expected results regarding the interosseous component, the minimally invasive technique was more effective than the conventional technique in terms of the depth of the sounding and the level of clinical insertion, there was a significant difference in favor of the minimally invasive technique over conventional technique. With regard to the recession, there was no statistically significant difference.
