ABSTRACT
Moniliasis or candidiasis of the oral mucosa is one of the most common diseases of the oral mucosa and the most common fungal condition of the oral cavity. The causative agent is Candida albicans, although other fungi of the species can also be pathogenic for humans. Its classification varies: acute pseudomembranous, chronic hyperplastic and Perleche (angular cheilitis). They are characterized by white, soft, slightly raised plaques, which come off leaving a bleeding surface; It can evolve in formatoride. Symptoms include pain, burning and dry mouth simultaneously. The objective was to identify the clinical manifestations related to systemic diseases. A 73-year-old male patient presented with a severe condition of moniliasis, aggravated by local factors and decompensation of type II diabetes mellitus. The treatment consisted of elimination of local factors and glycemic decompensation. Phytotherapy (chamomile, plantain), antifungals (nystatin) and triazole derivatives (fluconazole) were applied due to the severity of the case.REFERENCES
