ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study was to make a diagnosis of severe obstetric morbidity in the state of Quintana Roo that would help decisionmaking to reduce maternal death in the entity. For this purpose, a cross-sectional study was carried out with information from the Severe Maternal Morbidity Epidemiological Surveillance System (SIVEMMS) database. The study found that preeclampsia and gestational hypertension accounted for 71% of all cases of severe obstetric morbidity, 75% of users attended second level services without referral, and 86% of these users reported co-morbidity. It is concluded that actions aimed at obstetric care should be based on providing training and training to health personnel in pre-clampsia issues for management and avoiding complications arising from this, as well as timely identification at the first level of care and referral to second level for assessment of specialists to provide comprehensive and specialized care.REFERENCES
