ABSTRACT
Introduction: world health statistics for 2014 indicate that the average fertility rate among adolescents aged 15-19 is 49 per 1 000. Objective: to evaluate the development of educational actions based on the trans-theoretical model aimed at promoting changes associated with contraceptive use among adolescents. Methods: an intervention study was conducted in the Family Doctor’s Office No.5 of Quemado de Güines from 2017 to 2018. The study population consisted of 136 adolescents between 10 and 19 years of age, and the feasibility sample consisted of 15 adolescents between 12 and 15 years of age residing in the urban area and was selected in a non-probability manner by criteria. A group of educational actions based on the trans-theoretical model were designed and implemented to promote changes associated with the use of contraceptive methods in the study group, based on the results of the before and after questionnaires. The results obtained from the diagnosis were processed and calculated in percentages. Results: there was a predominance of female sex, age 13, basic secondary education and residence in urban areas; personal factors associated with the use of contraceptive methods were modified (87.4%), as well as the stage of change of adolescents (66.6%). Conclusions: educational actions for adolescents were effective, which allowed their use under real conditions and in other similar contexts, to favor changes in factors that generate sexual behaviors.REFERENCES
