ABSTRACT

In this paper anecdotic and historic aspects related to ileostomy and colostomy are narrated, with emphasis to the surgeon that built them and their indications. Enterostomal therapy nursing is also described, as well as stomal care, support clubs, creation and evolution of stoma appliances.
