ABSTRACT
Introduction: The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is one of the most important health problems in the world. Among the most affected organs in patients with HIV is the skin, in which the first manifestations of the disease or its evolution can be observed.
Objectives: To determine the dermatological manifestations in patients with HIV/AIDS according to the quantification of CD4 and viral load; identify the most frequent dermatoses according to sexual identity and its statistical correlation.
Method: Retrospective analytical epidemiological design. We reviewed 1,186 clinical records, of which 422 presented manifestations with a total of 544 dermatoses.
Results: Our results reveal at least one dermatological disease in 422 of 1,186 patients. The proportion of patients with heterosexual sexual identity was the highest presence of dermatosis (n = 287). The prevalence of infectious manifestations is predominant in all sexual identity groups, but it does not show a statistically significant relationship (p = 0.61). The predominant dermatoses are of infectious origin (n = 332).
Conclusions: A statistically significant relationship was found between the prevalence of dermatosis and the TCD4 lymphocyte count; on the contrary, the relationship between viral load and dermatological manifestations was not statistically significant. There was no statistical relationship between the dermatological manifestations and the sexual identification of the patients.
