ABSTRACT
The mucocele is a frequent lesion in the oral cavity. The lesion is characterized by the accumulation of saliva as a consequence of the rupture or obstruction of a salivary duct. The most frequent site of this pathology is in the lower lip. Its clinical presentation is a well-defined asymptomatic nodule with a sessile base. Histologically, it contains granulation tissue surrounded by mucin due to the presence of neutrophils and histiocytes that surround the mucin. The treatment is surgical excision. Description of the patient case of 8-year-old man, apparently healthy, who goes to the post-graduate clinic of pediatric dentistry of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa; When performing the intraoral examination, a nodule of approximately 5 mm of sessile base was observed in the lower lip, a color similar to the rest of the mucosa, with a soft consistency; The treatment was the excisional biopsy. Discussion The visual inspection can give us a presumptive diagnosis, however, its corresponding histopathological study must be done to obtain the definitive diagnosis.REFERENCES
