ABSTRACT
Objective: to determine the amount of toothpaste used for brushing in children under 3 in child care centers in the city of Tepic.
Material and methods: The population required were the teachers who are members of the Children's Stays of the city of Tepic who are in charge of children from 1 to 3 years of age, with a simple random sampling for the choice of 27masters, thus obtaining 270 proportions of toothpaste dispensed in toothbrushes.
Results: the average weight of the toothbrushes was 14.02grs. the average amount of pasta placed was 0.49 grs. After the intervention in which the proportion of pasta to be used was explained, the weight of the brush-paste was 14.36 grams, and the amount of paste used decreased to 0.33 grams.
Conclusions: It is important to mention that in the present investigation the most used dentifrice was the child with 500 ppm, the teachers applied the paste longitudinally and some repeated doses to the children who requested it.
