ABSTRACT
Objective: to know the frequency of teeth with ectopic eruption of the Especialidad de Ortodoncia de la Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit.
Material and Methods: The universe of study was 1457 models of orthodontic pretreatment study. The sample was 520 models that met the inclusion criteria. For the data collection, a registration sheet was used, tabulated in the Microsoft Office Excel 2007 program and descriptive statistics was performed in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 18 program.
Results: A percentage of 29.42 of patients with an ectopic eruption tooth was found, in men the percentage was 34.5 and in women 26.1. The teeth that presented an ectopic eruption were the upper canines on the right side (13%), followed by the upper left canines (10%).
Conclusions: the canines were the teeth that presented the highest frequency of ectopic eruption. It should be considered that the percentage of ectopic eruption is high because it was performed in people seeking orthodontic treatment.
