ABSTRACT
Introduction: Congenital muscular torticollis is the cause of dentofacial and psychological sequelae if early diagnosis and treatment fail.
Objective: To show the evolution of a patient with this entity treated with massages, stretching exercises and therapeutic ultrasound.
Case report: 11-month-old male infant, product of full-term eutocic delivery who has suffered torticollis and asymmetry of the face from birth. The condition became more evident after three months of age, when he began to have cephalic support. He is assisted, since he was 6 months, in the neurodevelopment clinic at the Children South Hospital "Antonio María Béguez César" in Santiago de Cuba city. Congenital muscular torticollis associated with facial asymmetry and Chiari I malformation was the diagnosis confirmed through imaging studies. Physiotherapy was prescribed as conservative treatment.
Conclusions: At 11 months he took his first steps and said his first words according to his age. Neck mobility improved and torticollis became less evident. He has not shown any improvement in facial asymmetry.
