ABSTRACT
We are part of a world in which we live more and more. According to data released by the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization, there is a rise in life expectancy. Thus, the elderly population has increased exponentially, leaving room for issues about how their care has been performed. In Brazil, the number of long-term care facilities for the elderly or nursing homes follows this growth. However, as important as expansion, concerns regarding quality of care are crucial. Hence, numerous questions arise. One of them pertains to the differential that a doctor daily presence can provide for such institutions. In this article, we present some suggestions based on our experiences in nursing homes, in which we have been acting as a medical team for 15 years.REFERENCES
