ABSTRACT

The pemphigoid gestacionalis is a rare, pruritic, skin disease, autoinmune, and it belongs to the pregnancy-specific dermatoses mainly develops between the second, third trimester, and/or immediate postpartum, with a periumbilical pruritic vesiculobullous rash. The diagnosis is based on the clinical presentation, histological findings of the lesions, direct immunofluorescence and ELISA. The majority of the cases are treated with antihistamines and corticosteroids. The pemphigoid gestacionalis is associated with an increased morbidity for pregnant women and fetal risks, for that reason, it is important to recognize this pathology for adequate interdisciplinary approach between dermatology, obstetrics and pathologic anatomy.
