Solitary trichoepithelioma, clinical-histopathological considerations of its differential diagnosis with basal cell carcinoma

ABSTRACT

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common non-melanoma skin cancer, an early diagnosis is key to improve prognosis and cosmetic results. One of its most, or perhaps the most important differential diagnosis in terms of both clinical and histopathologic features, is trichoepithelioma. We report a case of solitary trichoepithelioma solitarium in a 32 year old woman, which was excised surgically and confirmed by the histopathologic study; with no recurrence years after treatment.
