ABSTRACT
Introduction: The endoscopic endonasal approach of the prelacrimal recess for the maxillary sinus is a wide access to the walls and recesses of the same, its use has been increasing due to the low morbidity.
Objective: To share our experience in the endonasal endoscopic approach of prelacrimal recess, retrospectively analyze the cases performed, evaluating follow-up time, recurrence, complications, type of lesion and area of implantation.
Material and methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical record of the patients who underwent endoscopic surgery due to the approach of the prelacrimal recess from January 2015 to January 2019.
Results: Six patients underwent surgery for endoscopic surgery for the approach of prelacrimal recess, five were cases of inverted nasal papilloma and one for fibrous dysplasia, all six with an average follow-up of 14.5 months (range of 12 to 18 months). None presented complications, with no evidence of recurrence so far.
Conclusions: The endonasal endoscopic approach to prelacrimal recess is a reliable and effective procedure used to address maxillary sinus lesions with minimal complications and good results.
