The resistance of microorganisms to antibiotics is one of the highest threats to human health all over the world. The sanitary services present problems to stop some bacterial diseases in the way that the great quantity of antibiotics in disposition diminishes its efficacy, because there are very few medications under development. The objective is to update on this topic at international and national level, for which an information research was performed in Cuban journals and in the reports of the International Congress “Antimicrobial Resistance from the Laboratory to the Clinic” carried out in 2018. Cuba has been incorporated to the international community in the control of this worldwide health problem, involving sectors able to act in favor of the stopping of the antimicrobial resistance. It can be concluded that it is necessary to change the national situation with effective measures that guarantee human health.
