ABSTRACT

Chagas’ disease or American tripanosomiasis is a zoonosis product of the infection by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi. As its name suggests the disease it is native to America, affecting aproximately 5.7 million people and causing some 20 thousand deaths per year. It is also the third most common parasitosis, only surpassed by malaria and shistosoma. Infection is lifelong in the absence of an adequate and early treatment.
