Criteria for entry-exit from intensive care units, applicable legal support

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The intensive care units are specialized units, with limited capacity and are attended by personnel with special skills, therefore require a well-founded screening and attached to the law to decide the admission and discharge of patients who will be treated in these specialized units. Legal framework: Art. 4/o. Political Constitution of the United Mexican States «Right to protection of health» Arts. 32 and 33 of the General Law of Health «Medical Care» «Modalities of medical care», agreement by which the General Health Council declares the Mandatory nature of the Schemes of Integral Management of Palliative Care, Official Mexican Standard for the Organization and Functioning of Intensive Care Units. Criteria for admission and discharge: The criteria for admission and discharge of intensive care units should be based on the current legal framework, in a model of priorities where privileges are given to the most serious patients and with greater possibilities of recovery over the less serious patients and with less possibilities of recovery. Conclusions: Applying the model of priorities that is well based on current regulations, the objective of offering intensive care to patients who have a greater benefit from them is met and resources are optimized to provide critical care with greater efficiency and effectiveness.REFERENCES
