ABSTRACT
Recently the role of diet in the prevention and treatment of diseases has been increasingly explored. Historically, nutrition is neglected in medical education and food fads tend to be seen with skepticism. In the case of dermatological diseases, we can cite those who possess in their pathogenesis direct influence of food, such as dermatitis herpetiformis, as well as those in which the diet has some interference, such as atopic dermatitis, acne, psoriasis, allergic contact dermatitis, fish odor syndrome, among others. In this article the authors talk about the relationship between the diet and skin disorders, emphasizing their importance in the etiopathogenesis and treatment of those more frequent and with better established associations, bringing information of extreme value mainly in the guidance, diagnosis and treatment of patients who respond poorly or do not respond to first-line therapies with better scientific evidence.
