Alopecia Areata is a nonscarring hair loss condition. It is difficult to treat because of its chronic, inflammatory nature. It presents some variables (onset, duration, extent) and an unpredictable evolution that make clinical trials difficult to plan and to compare. The authors review the treatment of alopecia areata.
