ABSTRACT
Introduction: We know as testicular microlithiasis the condition in which the
formation of calcifications occurs inside the testicle. Its etiology is unknown, and it
has higher prevalence in adulthood than in pediatric patients. This pathology shows
its diagnosis through imaging studies.
Clinical case: A 17-year-old patient presents with pelvic pain that has been evolving
for one month and is diagnosed with this condition after complementary studies. In
the following study, a bibliographic review is carried out about the relevant aspects
and treatment of the pathology, as well as the existing relationship between testicular
microlithiasis and testicular neoplasia, infertility and genetic-based pathologies, topics
of great interest to the family physician of primary healthcare, considering control and
prevention management that should be applied every day in the medical consultation.
Conclusions: The knowledge about the complications that could occur in the patient
with testicular microlithiasis obliges the doctor to show a prudent attitude towards this
pathology, considering the preventive aspect of primary health care.
