Consumption of antimicrobial drugs in Manuel Fajardo Clinical-Surgical Hospital in the period 2016-2017

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The studies about the institutional antimicrobial consumption have acquired a great importance currently and it constitute an efficiency indicator and feedback for the doctors of the possible implications of their use. Objective: To characterize the use of antimicrobial drugs in the Manuel Fajardo Hospital during the years 2016 and 2017. Methods: An observational, descriptive and retrospective study was conducted in the “Comandante Manuel Fajardo” Hospital during the years 2016 and 2017. The universe was determinate for all the antimicrobial drugs with facultative prescriptions during 2016 and 2017. Do not use sample technique. The results were obtained in the hospital pharmacy. Results: The most used antimicrobial drug was the Cefuroxime (35 426 units). The pharmacology group most used was the cephalosporin both years. The 3rd and 4th cephalosporin generation were used in a 64,2% with respect to all the cephalosporin. The twelves antimicrobial drugs most used represents a cost around the 200 000 pesos each year. Conclusion: The antimicrobial drugs most used during the period from january 2016 through december 2017 were the cefuroxime, the ceftriaxone, and the metronidazole. The pharmacology groups most used was the Cephalosporin both years.REFERENCES
