ABSTRACT

Introduction: There is no information regarding the clinical characteristics and personality profiles in the consumer of the combination of cocaine and cannabis base paste. This has limited the interest in their study. In Latin America, especially in the Andean countries, this combination is used.
Objective: Determine the main clinical and personality characteristics of patients consuming the combination of cocaine and cannabis base paste.
Methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out, with the participation of 10 patients from To Live Again Rehabilitation Center in Manta city. The inclusion of three variables was proposed: sociodemographic conditions, clinical characteristics of consumption and personality profile. They were analyzed according to the following techniques and instruments: Medical History, Evaluation System in Neuropsychiatry (SCAN) and Personality Assessment Scale (PAS).
Results: Based on the analyzes carried out in an integrated manner according to the objectives, it was determined that this is a population that is mostly young with high school education. It was demonstrated a greater prevalence of patients who show a severe failure to perform the main obligations inherent to their social role and marked tolerance. There is predominance in the population with a sociopathic trait.
Conclusion: It was determined that the clinical and personality characteristics are consistent with the studies on the addictive disease.
