ABSTRACT
Introduction: Chronic hand eczema (CHE) affects between 5 and 7% of the population. The purpose of the article is to describe the use of oral alitretinoin in patients with refractory in our centre and to carry out a literature review up to date.
Material and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive retrospective observational study, based on the retrospective review of clinical records of patients with CHE treated with alitretinoin.
Results: We reviewed eight records from patients treated with alitretinoin. A dose of 30 mg/day was used in all patients, after which 75% of the patients achieved a satisfactory clinical response. The adverse events were all predictable and mild and did not require the suspension of treatment in any case.
Conclusion: The results show a high efficacy for the treatment of CHE with oral alitretinoin according to what has been published up to date in the literature and the recommendations established in the clinical practice guidelines. We have to remark the good response to treatment in our series and the few adverse effects.
