ABSTRACT
Endocrine disruptors (ED) are compounds with endocrine activity and
are present in the environment, have the potential to interfere with
various physiological processes in humans and animals; Some of the
systems that are affected by these compounds are the central nervous
system, the endocrine system, the bone system and the immunological
system. Currently, it is believed that these compounds are responsible
for alterations in human reproduction and as precursors of some
cancers of the reproductive system in both men and women. Endocrine
disruptors are substances to which you are exposed on a daily basis;
molecular and scientific evaluation methods are required to understand
the short- and long-term effects of these compounds in Costa Rican
society.
