ABSTRACT
Introduction: Social determinants of health are increasingly present in health agendas and public policies worldwide. Objective: Identify health differentials in the Cuban population in the period 1990-2009.
Method: A mixed ecologic study was conducted whose units of analysis were the population of the 14 provinces and the special municipality of the Isle of Youth. Information was obtained by document review and processed with the Gini coefficient and Lorenz curves. Use was made of descriptive statistics elements such as absolute number, ratio, proportion, index, percentage and rate.
Conclusions: The morbidity and mortality rates studied do not show great differentials, and they tend to decrease along the study period. There are no territorial coincidences to explain health differentials.
