ABSTRACT
The benign lymphoepithelial lesion related to HIV is a benign pathology that affects the
salivary glands, especially the parotid gland. The prevalence reported worldwide and in
Mexico indicates that it is more frequent in adults than in children. It is characterized by an asymmetric, non-painful and chronic growth of the parotid glands associated with cervical
lymphadenopathy. The alterations observed in computed tomography and magnetic
resonance in an HIV+ patient is specific to make the diagnosis considering the unnecessary
biopsy. The objective of this publication is to present the case of an 8-year-old boy
whose infection route was through maternal-fetal transmission and in which the imaging
findings gave the guideline to establish the diagnosis.
