ABSTRACT
Teleradiology is the most developed of the telemedicine service which involves the electronic
transmission of radiographic images between two geographical locations, for purposes
of interpretation and consultation. Regulatory frameworks are the foundation of any
regulation in Mexico do not yet have an official rule in telemedicine involving teleradiology,
however the National Center for Health Technology Excellence works in the construction
of Project Mexican Official Standard NOM-036-SSA3-2013. Teleradiology provides benefits
to health institutions as the possibility of remote interconsultations allowing expand coverage
more accessible, facilitating that can meet peak workload, provide a permanent service,
reduce waiting lists for certain examinations and, above all, lower costs. In countries
like ours, it is necessary to take measures to ensure legal certainty aspects, timeliness and
high-quality care without these aspects endanger the operational and financial sustainability
of radiology and general health.
