ABSTRACT
The hypertension is defined when a patient has an arterial pressure systolic superior to 140 mmHg and an arterial pressure superior diastolic to 90 mmHg, and is today in the entire world a problem of public health. It is known that it is a chronic illness, multifactorial, not symptomatic caused by hereditary dispositions and external factors of risk as obesity, stress, excessive consumption of alcohol and salt. The periodontal illnesses are infectious and inflammatory diseases, whish affect to the structures of support of the tooth, and they are classified in two wide groups: gingivitis and periodontitis. According to recent studies the faulty buccal health can interfere with the control of the arterial tension in people diagnosed with hypertension. Due to we carry out it a revision of 17 articles, a book in digital format and two practical guides in Dentistry were included, where they are described and are related both, hypertension andperiodontal illnesses. We want to notice the necessity of the dentist to know these pathologies and their association in order to prevent the aggravating effects of both.
