ABSTRACT
Introduction: tooth eruption is a multifactorial process. Some factors regulate and affect the rate of eruption of different teeth. Objective: to characterize the rhythm of eruption of the different dental groups in permanent dentition according to the facial type and the ethnic group. Method: a prospective longitudinal descriptive epidemiological study was conducted in children of the Vietnam Heroico School in Santa Clara from March 2016 to February 2017. The universe was 506 children of both sexes and between five and 13 years of age, with a final sample of 142 individuals. At first, an intentional non-probabilistic sampling was carried out by criteria, later a stratified sampling was used and, finally, the selection mode followed in each stratum was a systematic probabilistic sampling. Weighted mean values of the monthly eruption rate were obtained for each dental group according to the facial type and ethnic group. Results: there were significant differences between the different facial types in terms of the rate of eruption in both arches, but it only occurred in some dental groups in the maxilla. Among ethnic groups, these differences only occurred in some dental groups. Conclusions: leptoprosopic individuals had the highest rate of eruption and euryprosopic individuals the lowest. The negroid ethnic group had the highest values of eruption rhythm.REFERENCES
