ABSTRACT
Introduction: cervical intraepithelial neoplasia is a health problem in Cuba and in the world. The high rate of morbidity and mortality in women due to this cause is a priority for its control in Primary
Health Care.
Objective: identify factors associated with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia at "Mario
Muñoz Monroe" polyclinic from 2015 to 2017.
Method: a case-control study was conducted, the universe was 128 patients diagnosed with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and a sample of 96 was chosen by sampling at chance that constituted the study group; there was another group (control) consisting of an equal number of patients with negative cytologies; the data collection was through a survey of the patients. The distribution of frequencies in each variable was used; the arithmetic, standard deviation, percentage, Student test, the cross-product ratio and the independence test using chi-square with a confidence level of 95% and a value, p <0.05.
Results: cervical intraepithelial neoplasia was more frequent between 20 and 29 years; parity between 3 and 4 births, the history of other benign uterus neck conditions, the early onset of sexual intercourse, nonuse of the condom, and virus of the human papiloma infection were significant risk factors.
Conclusions: in the appearance of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia multiple risk factors converged, the elimination and control of them is vital in its prevention and treatment.
