ABSTRACT
Objective: To study the most significant associations
between musculoskeletal disorders and psychosocial
risk factors in the nursing staff of intensive care in a
hospital in the city of Quito.
Material and methods:
Cross-sectional and analytical study, with a sample
of the personnel of nursing of 73 subjects. In the
selected sample, two questionnaires were applied,
the first one identified sociodemographic data and
pain and / or musculoskeletal complaints through the
Nordic questionnaire, and the second one evaluated
the psychosocial risk factors with the application of
the Psychosocial risk factor battery. Ministry of Social
Protection of Colombia.
Results: The average age was 36
years, 89% were women, with high levels of education
and an average working age of 4-5 years. The highest
prevalence of musculoskeletal discomfort and / or pain
was in the lower back region, followed by neck and
shoulder. The presence of psychosocial risk factors was
mainly in the domains: 99% reward, leadership and social
relations 89%, displacement housing-work-housing
94.4% and time out of work 75.4%. The statistically
significant associations between the variables of the
study, were in the intra-labor domains work demand,
control over the work with the neck, elbows and hips
regions. The labor-work-housing displacement extramanual
domain was found to be associated with the knee
region. Age presented significant associations with the
musculoskeletal discomfort of the hip and knee region.
Conclusions: The results of the study require an integral
evaluation and intervention to prevent musculoskeletal
disorders.
