Bleomycin-induced flagellate erythema: a case report

ABSTRACT
The term «flagellate» comes from the Latin flagellum, «whip», which refers to the act of striking the human body with special elements. Erythema or flagellate dermatitis is a rare cutaneous entity, but that can be recognized by its typical clinical features, to which its name refers. It has been associated with shiitake mushroom intake, and less frequently, with bleomycin and other chemotherapeutic agents. We report the case of a patient with whiplash-like lesions secondary to treatment with bleomycin, who was diagnosed with flagellated erythema.
