The professional overcoming in the National Institute for Workers' Health of Cuba, 2013-2017

ABSTRACT
Introduction: From its foundation, the National Institute of Workers' Health of Cuba has deployed a professional overcoming system that is integrative, pertinent and adjusted, with focus eminently guided to the occupational health. Its achievements are not distinguished only for the quantity and quality of the imparted activities, but also for the methodological rigor of their programs, especially in the professional overcoming area. Objective: To describe the behavior of this sphere of the postgraduate studies during the five years period 2013-2017. Material and method: Descriptive study to the professional overcoming process through documental review to dictated documents and final reports of the activities, professional overcoming plans and reports of their execution; descriptive statistical techniques were used to organize data and to present them. Results: 85 activities were dictated, the subjects of the diploma projects were Occupational Health, Psychology of the Occupational Health, Occupational Nursing and Occupational Clinic. 64 courses and 9 Ddiploma projects were imparted with 754 graduates. Conclusions: During the period 2013-2017, the professional overcoming of this institute was characterized by a high quantity of accredited courses, with a balance among those that have municipal level and those ruled as national courses or national courses with proposal of international price; it is remarkable the number of international activities that were accredited in 2017. The subjects corresponding to health situation analysis sphere prevailed, although it was substantial the total of courses imparted in the period to develop informational competences.
