ABSTRACT

Introduction: The scientific information is an indispensable resource of incalculable value for the development of the knowledge of individuals, organizations, society in general and especially for the different services of references that offer the libraries, amid the traffic toward the society of information also denominated society of learning, where the systems have stopped to be static allowing the exchange, the professional of this specialty has transformed into an agent of information and knowledge and is called to facilitate the communication and to propitiate the production of new products and services. Was carried out a search work for the organization of the existent information about Occupational Health at world level, which was contained in form of directory and was necessary the creating of instruments and complementary tools to facilitate its use and handling. Objectives: To establish the procedures for the use and handling of the directories of institutions and publications about Occupational Health. Material and methods: Was adapted the contents of a methodology for the design of the service of the directories and a manual of procedures was edited for its upgrade and improvement. The service of Selective Dissemination of the Information was perfected by means of the creation of a record whose first use experiences settled down a communication flow that advised the creation of a profile of characterization of the scientific technique potential in the institution. Results: There were obtained four complementary materials to perfect the work of the Library and the Research and Teaching Department.
