ABSTRACT
Introduction: The success of the joint replacement surgery of the temporomandibular joint requires a careful planning, reasonable expectations of the patient and an adequate surgical technique, physical therapy, the interdisciplinary treatment it’s essential and continuous monitoring of the patient.
Material and methods: Case report of a 14-year-old female patient with skeletal class III malocclusion, dolichofacial biotype, concave profile, class III right canine and molar, left class canine and molar not analysable, anterior crossbite and posterior left crossbite.
Objectives: Correction of facial asymmetry, right condyle osteoma removal as well as the placement of alloplastic prosthesis in the same condyle.
Results: They were obtained class I molar and canine, correction of laterognathia, coincidence of middle lines, adequate overbite horizontally and vertically and proportionate thirds.
Conclusion: The complete reconstruction of the temporomandibular joint with the alloplastic prosthesis with the Lorenz system presents excellent aesthetic and functional results.
