ABSTRACT
A case of a 19-year-old female patient who attended the Orthodontics Department, Faculty of Dentistry, National Autonomous University of Mexico, with no apparent pathological data. Facial asymmetry is observed with a marked deviation of the chin towards the left side. Intraorally shows slight dental crowding, non-overlapping dental midlines, oval arcades, OD 15 agenesis, molar and canine bilateral class III, and left anterior and posterior crossbite. The cephalometric analysis showed skeletal class III by prognathism, vertical growth pattern; maxillary ridge, mandibular deviation. The treatment consisted of three phases: 1. Presurgical orthodontics with Roth apparatus 0.022”; 2. Surgical, unilateral advancement and intrusion of the maxilla, bilateral vertical osteotomy for the correction of prognathism and laterognasia and advancement of the chin; 3. Postoperative orthodontics, for detailed, settlement and consolidation. The treatment lasted 23 months, where facial asymmetry was corrected, crossbite removed, canine class I and molar bilateral, centered the dental lines, improving the patient’s function and aesthetics.
