Skin cancer in patient from a Manzanillo city polyclinic. 2016-2017

ABSTRACT
Introduction: non-melanoma skin cancer has shown a gradual increase worldwide, in Manzanillo, Cuba there is a similar behaviour.Objective: to characterize the skin cancer in patients of the Teaching Polyclinic No. 3 René Vallejo Ortiz, Manzanillo.
Methods: a descriptive, retrospective study was conducted with a universe of 37 patients with skin cancer, in the years 2016-2017. The variables studied were age, sex, race, histological diagnosis, classification of patients according to sex and clinical form and characterization by year of diagnosis as statistically reported.
Results: the most affected age group was between the fifth and sixth decades of life. The male sex predominated and half-breed skin colour. By classification of the diagnosis, the basal cell carcinoma surpassed the spinocellular carcinoma. The clinical classification of basal cell carcinoma and male sex was significant. There was a significant increase in the diagnosis of this entity according to the years studied.
Conclusions: the most frequent skin tumour is basal cell carcinoma; it increases its incidence in males.
