Characterization of the lifestyle in adult patients with diabetes mellitus type II. Yara, 2017

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the lifestyle of diabetic patients can change the natural history of the disease or failing to aggravate the conditions of it.Objective: to characterize the lifestyle in adult patients with type II diabetes mellitus belonging to CMF 14, Yara municipality.
Methods: a retrospective observational descriptive study was conducted between December 2016 and January 2017. The universe of study was constituted by all adults diagnosed as diabetic, 78 patients, in this health area. The sample consisted of 41 patients representing 53%, the probabilistic was used by the simple random method. The variables age, sex, level of education, and lifestyle areas were studied through instruments such as the guide for the study of lifestyle.
Results: diabetic patients presented a lifestyle with risk, which has support in the follow-up of an adequate diet, on the other hand, the maintenance of some toxic habits, such as smoking, and the poor practice of systematic physical exercise, This advantage is appreciated in the use of their free time in pleasant activities and the self-care and medical care they maintain.
Conclusions: in the selected study group the female sex prevailed, as well as the group of older than 70 years old, in turn, the predominant level of schooling was that of primary school completed.
