Assessment on the subject disaster Medicins by foreing students

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Medicine of disasters has as objective the acquisition of knowledge to execute actions in events of emergency.Objective: To determine the deficiencies in giving lessons of the subject Medicine of disasters that affect the teaching – learning process in foreign students, at “Joaquin Albarrán” Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital.
Method: A descriptive transversal study was carried out with 1034 foreign students during 3 courses. A survey was applied, once the students finished the subject Medicine of disasters. Descriptive statistics was used.
Results: 233 students (22,1%) were not motivated ,801(77,4 %) considered the subject necessary ,174 (16,8 %) students answered that it did not have relation with the clinical subjects. First aids and assistance to the poli-traumatized patient were the most important topics (99 and 98 % respectively). 50 % were self-evaluated with excellent preparation.
Conclusion: Neither the interaction of the subject with the rest of them has been achieved, nor the motivation or the adequate preparation of the students, for the developing of instructive and educative actions, as well as the assessment in the facing of mass disasters.
