Information and communication technologies into the teaching-learning process, a current challenge

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the current accelerated technological development has allowed the emergence of Information and Communication Technologies, which have strongly influenced diverse spheres of society, including health, where they will have connotations in the teaching-learning process.Objective: to explain the impact of these technologies on the teaching processes, as well as the barriers that limit their incorporation into teaching group.
Methods: a bibliographic review was carried out, aided by the literature examination in different electronic databases, providing the subsequent selection of 28 references included in this article, all incorporated due to their scope and importance, being considered as referents in the area under discussion.
Development: the institutions that train health professionals have been consistent with the development and implementation of Information and Communication Technologies, playing a significant role in the teaching-learning process, where a variety of tools are introduced in order to train a more qualified and competent professional to exercise the profession.
Conclusions: despite the advantages provided, not denying they have a proper use by the time being, and in order to apply them into the teaching-learning process, their use must be stimulated.
